About Tom Townsey art
Hello, my name is Tom Townsey.
I'm a Norwegian/Danish artist with a great French heart.
My artwork is primarily inspired by many years of travelling around the Côte d'Azur in France and Bornholm in Denmark. I have a profound passion for the cities and their cultural sights, which have so much history.
Hopefully I can contribute to renew the magnificence of these fantastic cultural treasures by displaying them in a new, different and modern light. And perhaps give you a way to connect with your memories of a beloved travel destination.
My inspiration
All my life I have been drawn to the French culture. As very young I learned French in school, and my first adult job was as a travel guide in Paris.
After I met my wife we have travelled around France for more than 35 years.
So my passion for France, the French people and the magnificent medieval cities got under my skin already in my teens and is still a great inspiration to me.
My mission
We have all been giving this one wonderful life. The responsibility to get the maximum out of it, is entirely upon ourselves.
When I was about to turn 60, I decided to step outside of the very wellknown addictive treadmill, that we all know, and started a new way of living. A way where I was in charge and where I could combine my interests for travelling with my interest in the French culture.
So I decided to become an artist! Easier said but ........
My art
Today I understand much better why so many painters - especially the great painters like Picasso, Chagall and Matisse - were drawn to the Côte d'Azur. The ambient light and the atmosphere at the beautiful coastline is just so inspiring and captivating.
But unlike the painters just mentioned above I wasn't gifted with the same skills to paint. Instead I had to develop my own way of making art. So I take photographs and then I turn them into artwork through a complex digital process, that I have learned to master.
I hope you find an art poster that you fancy and would like to hang it in your space - or perhaps give it as a present.
I also hope my story could inspire you to look with new eyes on your own life. Is it as you would like it to be? Or is it time for change?
Cordialement / Sincerely
Tom Townsey
